GreenDice raises first investment

GreenDice raises €400,000 angel investment to bring personal computers with IT support to every Estonian school student.

GreenDice is launching its first investment round of €0.4 million to introduce a solution to Estonian schools that provides every student from the 8th grade upwards with a personal computer complete with IT and community support for the entire study period. Upon leaving school, the student can, if desired, transfer the service into their own name. The service price starts from €6.90 per month.

Our model is unique and sustainable:

• We don`t buy cheap technology; instead, we bring high-quality devices to schools. The primary users of these devices are GreenDice’s partner companies that wish to reduce their ecological footprint and strengthen their brand.
• We create a circular economy solution that connects responsible organizations with Estonian youth.

 

GreenDice is already working today with well-known partners such as Tele2, SEB, Coop Pank, Nordea, Omniva, Enterprise Estonia, Eesti Loto, Prisma, and many others.

 

We have tested the solution in several schools and see that we are able to:

• Organize computer classrooms and IT systems, thereby reducing the school’s existing IT infrastructure costs (Tõrva Gymnasium, Häädemeeste Secondary School, Imavere Basic School, and others).
• Provide teachers with a personal device along with IT support.
• Reduce the schools’ cost base, which helps bring a computer and service to every student, and also provides: a platform to raise awareness of digital hygiene, financial literacy, and other useful topics.

 

In the age of Artificial Intelligence, it is vital that every young person gains access to technology while learning to consciously avoid the risks of smart device addiction. GreenDice is a transparent circular economy pioneer that has already experimented extensively with a small team. The investment gives us the opportunity to take greater responsibility for the Estonian school community, organize our processes, and further build a model that amplifies reuse. Furthermore, we help separate the wheat from the chaff by showing people which companies are genuinely operating sustainably.
