An experience story from Inchcape Estonia’s IT Manager

Inchcape Motors Estonia joined forces with GreenDice in January 2022. Through our collaboration, we’ve had the opportunity to train Inchcape employees and direct the company’s IT equipment to various regions across Estonia through several projects. Evelyn Raamat, Inchcape’s IT Manager, who has been with us since the beginning of this partnership, shared her experience with GreenDice.

What happened to Inchcape’s IT equipment after in-house use? What were the pain points of disposal or re-routing equipment? What were the challenges or problems?

Previously, the IT department handled disposal themselves, or old equipment simply sat in storage. There were many thoughts about giving them for reuse, but since there was no resource to deal with it, it often remained just a thought. As a result, older equipment accumulated and often just sat in storage.

Have you implemented green and circular economy principles in your company, and if so, how?

Our company, at the entire Inchcape Group level, is heavily involved in the green economy. At a global level, Inchcape has established a separate department that daily addresses how to maximize savings in the company to conserve natural resources. This includes saving water or energy, cost-effective use of materials in car services, and organized handling of waste products.

What prompted you to join GreenDice?

We lacked the necessary resources and knowledge on how to better implement the circular economy for IT equipment. But after the very first meeting with GreenDice, it became clear that they met exactly what we were looking for, wished for, and needed. When GreenDice introduced their concept, the solution was immediately very logical. We didn’t think long; we joined right away because everything clicked for us – both in terms of future outlooks and cooperation in general.

Why GreenDice? How does GreenDice differentiate itself from competitors?

We weren’t even looking for competitors. Everything clicked for us from the first meeting. Our company’s management also immediately embraced the idea, and that’s how the first collaboration began, where our company’s used computers moved to a computer lab in a South Estonian school.

What has the cooperation journey been like? When did you join? What activities have you carried out together?

In cooperation, we have assisted several schools in need in South Estonia with Inchcape’s used equipment. It’s also worth noting that the computer lab for Ukrainian war refugee children and the children studying at the school received our equipment. In addition, several Inchcape employees have joined the GreenDice community service, including myself as a private individual. My two school-aged children use equipment from the GreenDice community daily.

What changes has cooperation with GreenDice brought about?

All changes have been only positive. I am very satisfied with the cooperation with GreenDice. I am a big supporter of theirs and internally I always think of them and wish them well. Because what they do is, in my opinion, very important for society – on the one hand, to provide a controlled circular economy for used equipment, and on the other hand, to support those in need.
