Schools into the Digital Age – How GreenDice is Contributing

GreenDice has set a goal to help Estonian municipalities make the digital leap. In cooperation with the municipalities of Tõrva, Järva and Häädemeeste, we have discovered that schools are one of the biggest challenges on the path of digital development.

A lack of devices, depreciation, a lack of competence, a lack of teacher support programs and the continuation of old practices – these are just some of the factors that prevent schools from keeping up with the digital age.

We believe that every student, regardless of the subject, should have access to computer technology. Computer labs are outdated – in today’s schools, every student should have the opportunity to use their own device. This gives them the freedom to build and understand their digital identity and implement digital learning materials.

Digital development is not a one-man show. It is teamwork that requires broad involvement. That is why we have created the Junior IT Leaders program, where students can contribute to the digital development of their school and support teachers. There are already 6 participants in the program in Tõrva, two of whom, Kristofer Juht and Cristel Freitak, also shared their experiences in a video.

In light of the teacher shortage, digital development is crucial to ensure access to quality education for all young people in Estonia. GreenDice is committed to this goal and helps schools create a 21st century learning environment.
