Tammer

What does your company do and what value do you create today?

Our company manufactures metal doors. We produce project-based smooth metal and steel profile doors for the construction sector and ships in both the Estonian and European markets. We contribute to making the world safer – our main focus is on the development and production of doors that protect people from fire, smoke, explosions, bullets, radiation, etc. Here is an illustrative video that summarizes our production and value proposition well.

What motivated you to join GreenDice?

We were motivated to join GreenDice by the desire to send our old technology to recycling and we know that GreenDice controls this system very well. Even if not everything can be sent to recycling, the technology is taken apart and used. The desire was to send as much of our IT equipment as possible to recycling and also to see and analyze the footprint of our IT equipment.

Have you and how have you implemented green and circular economy principles in your company?

Yes, we have. We have undertaken many different activities, including monitoring our material use, and in production and the office, we sort out as much material as possible to be sent to recycling. We are also focused on improving energy and resource efficiency, digitalization and automation. We have created a green club of the company’s biggest environmental enthusiasts and raise awareness among our employees on sustainability topics, involving them in various projects. In accordance with our SDGs, we create a goal and action plans every year, which we start to fulfill. More information can be found on our sustainability page: https://tammer.ee/en/sustainability/

Why is it important for you to contribute to the development of Estonian and other societies?

Here I would like to quote Anti Tammo, the chairman of our board: “The world is changing, and so is the sector in which we operate. Sustainable practices are inevitable to stay true to Tammer’s core values while staying on our strategic goals. We want to ensure the survival of the company and the world for future generations. As in our current strategy, we plan to reach every Tammer team member with a sustainable mindset in the coming months, years and decades. Sustainability at Tammer is not a quick sprint, but a strategic long-distance race – step by step towards a better and more sustainable world.”
