Tele2 and GreenDice opened a new chapter in the digital development of Estonian schools: Häädemeeste Gymnasium students received personal computers
Today, Tele2 and GreenDice handed over 25 personal laptops to the upper secondary school students of Häädemeeste Secondary School to enable them to keep pace with increasingly digital learning. This is a significant collaboration and undertaking that strengthens the competitiveness of Estonian education and supports the development of young people’s IT skills.
Tele2 and GreenDice have taken another step in supporting the digital development of Estonian schoolchildren by ensuring that the students of Häädemeeste Secondary School have the opportunity to use personal laptops in their studies. On April 24th, 25 devices were handed over to the school, which will help expand young people’s digital skills and create better opportunities for using digital learning materials – nowadays, alongside workbooks and textbooks, a significant part of learning materials has moved online.
Previously, the cooperation between Tele2 and GreenDice primarily directed laptops to teachers or computer classes, but this time, each upper secondary school student will have their own personal computer. Häädemeeste Secondary School sees significant added value in this, aiming to keep young people in their home region and prevent them from moving to gymnasiums in Pärnu or other areas.
Annika Parm, Head of Marketing and Communications at Tele2, states that she is pleased to be the only telecommunications company cooperating with GreenDice: “We contribute back to society through projects that help create equal opportunities. The fact that upper secondary school students will have better digital opportunities than before will help them acquire future skills faster. Today’s students are tomorrow’s innovators,” she adds.
GreenDice’s focus, in addition to providing the right to use devices and IT support, is to generate digital development in society. “Based on our partners’ IT equipment, we built a complete solution so that it reaches young people who need it most. In addition, we have a junior IT manager program where technically inclined young people can gain their first practical IT experience, learn to assist school staff, and acquire knowledge that may be important prerequisites for a future career in the IT field,” comments the company’s CEO, Argo Alaniit.
The Mayor of Häädemeeste saw an opportunity for cooperation in GreenDice’s service. This is an important initiative for the locals and the first step in a new digital development plan that will help strengthen the region’s competitiveness. Aule Kink, Principal of Häädemeeste Secondary School, emphasizes that smart young people deserve the opportunity to learn with modern devices. “The abundance of digital tools encourages young people to continue their studies specifically at the local school. GreenDice’s junior IT manager program also provides young people interested in technology with valuable experience, which is a good starting package for future career choices,” she says.
