Cramo

What does your company do, and how much value do you add today?

Cramo Estonia AS was started in September 1995 and has since evolved to become Estonia’s largest construction equipment and machinery rental firm. Cramo is now part of the international Boels-Cramo group, which is Europe’s second-largest rental company. We have a wide range of construction equipment, tools, forklifts, and machinery available. In addition, we rent modular homes and heaters. When selecting equipment, we constantly look for the highest quality, dependability, and functionality. Our mission is to help our customers boost their competitiveness by offering economic solutions. Equipment rental is an example of a successful circular economy model; by working together, we can increase resource efficiency with customers, extend the life of equipment, and reduce waste.

What motivated you to join GreenDice?”

In recent years, we’ve paid close attention to garbage management and waste reduction in a variety of work operations. As a result, it’s vital that the ecological footprint of computers be kept to a minimum. We keep our computers as long as possible—for example after they have been used in the office, they are moved to repair or storage rooms. As the last step, we have given used but functional computers to employees and their children for personal use. In the future, we hope to distribute working computers outside of the company as well. It’s important to us to know that computers are recycled and reused at the end of their lives (rather than being stuffed into someone’s closet or ending up in a landfill).

Have you implemented green and circular economy practices in your firm, and if so, how?

We adhere to the principles of so-called responsible entrepreneurship in our operations, which means that we invest in occupational health and safety, reduce environmental impacts, and contribute to social projects on a daily basis. Cramo intends to work with suppliers and partners to reduce the environmental impact of rental equipment throughout the supply chain (from sourcing to disposal). Customers have been given the option of purchasing eco-friendly products (Eco Choice). We work hard to ensure that all employees’ contributions to environmental issues (such as garbage reduction and sorting) emerge from their awareness and personal initiative, as well as their everyday activities, personal life, and interests. In order to reduce the environmental impact, we will gradually switch to renewable energy, reduce energy consumption and waste generation, enhance logistics, and so on.

Why is it important for you to contribute to the development of Estonia and the rest of society?

Cramo aspires to be a leader in inspiring and motivating its staff and clients to make environmentally friendly decisions. We have the opportunity and the desire to contribute to education, sports, and philanthropy as a huge international corporation. We also feel that the impact of our combined efforts will be even greater in the future as more businesses join the GreenDice project.
