What does your company do and what value do you create today?

Directo OÜ is the largest business software producer in the Baltics, founded in 2000, and based on Estonian capital. Directo, our full-featured SaaS business software, is designed for the modern, forward-thinking business. Today, Directo also has offices in Finland, Latvia, and Lithuania, and Directo’s business software already has more than 65,000 end users in 75 different countries.

In addition to a powerful tool that can be used to intelligently manage and control processes in the company, we also offer our customers a real opportunity to contribute to sustainability and environmental friendliness. This is expressed, for example, in the amount of paper that remains unused thanks to Directo’s business software, or in Directo business software`s digital cleanup tool.

What motivated you to join GreenDice?

Smart solutions are often also sustainable, and GreenDice’s technical circulation certainly is. Since we still lacked a smart and systematic solution to this topic, we decided to join. We actually see much wider possibilities here i.e. we hope to involve not only our company but also Directo users in the technical circulation.

Have you implemented green and circular economy principles in the company and how?

It already started with the creation of our paperless business software, which has supported the principle “Trees belong to the forest” from the beginning. If you take into account that during 2021, our customers moved more than 1.6 million e-invoices via Directo, a simple calculation shows that approximately 190 trees remained in the forests thanks to this. We invite all our customers to make the most of smart digital solutions that reduce our ecological footprint.

We are also engaged in “taking trees to the forest” – in the spring of 2022 we planted more than 3000 new trees in the forest, where they will succeed to actually grow up.

We also draw attention to and actively deal with reducing digital pollution – we created a digital clean-up tool, we monitor and implement principles of reducing digital pollution in our daily work, and we participate in digital clean-up days.

Instead of talking about important things, we prefer to do things ourselves, set a good example, and offer real solutions and tools that help our customers do all of this.

Why is it important for you to contribute primarily to the development of Estonia and other societies?

The goal of smart business software is to encourage and teach people to make smart decisions and work smart. All of this allows you to achieve better results with fewer resources, regardless of whether you operate in the heart of Tallinn, among the highlands of Southern Estonia, at the Sõrve lighthouse in Saaremaa, or on Piirissaar in Lake Peipus.

Since SaaS software knows no national borders or distances, we offer sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions also to companies operating outside Estonia, including several domestic success stories that operate around the world.
